The other thing besides money Viljo desperately needed was allies. Connections. People who knew people. So when he wasn't tinkering at the construction site, he liked to hang out at the park and talk to strangers.
He met Justin Delgato, the husband of Brindleton Bay's vet. He seemed like a reasonably nice guy. He loved kids and had some of his own. Viljo told him about his project and Justin really liked the idea.
He also got to know Catarina Lynx, a heartwarming young lady from Brindleton Bay. She was more about cats than children but she said she loved all creatures the same and was just happy so see someone doing good for the community.
Bob Pancakes wasn't interested in talking about the orphanage project, but they connected over environmental pollution issues and how dirty the park was. It even prompted Viljo to do some ad hoc community service.
Summer Holiday thought the orphanage project was a lovely idea and even offered to volunteer once it was open. Don Lothario didn't care much for children and asked if Viljo would hire some hot nurses later. Finally Travis Scott seemed more interested in the business side of it all and asked how Trevor was ever going to make money off of this.
In the evenings when he wasn't working Viljo liked to go for a run or work out to clear his mind. There was just so much to think about and to plan. It began do dawn on him that he might have gotten himself into something a little bit too big.
When he took a shower late he quickly regained his confidence though. He fell asleep sure that everything would turn out just the way he imagined it to be.
